Can We Stop Lying?
Welcome to the one day at a time podcast where we forget about yesterday. We don't worry about tomorrow. It's what are we going to do today? This all matters because you've only ever had or will ever have the fantastic twenty four hours a day you're about to embark on. So hopefully this episode is going to give you some daily dose of wisdom that you can take action on today to improve your life.
Speaker 1:And remember, all it takes is one day at a time. Good morning strikers, I've just recovered from absolutely bartering air particles in my flat yesterday from the boxing. They don't want to see me today, I took them clean out and if you guys did the boxing I hope you're enjoying it. It's a different type of workout in there. After I feel so loose because I've used my upper body in a more unified way as opposed to like bench press and then you're doing back and then you're shoulder separately, like moving everything differently when actually we're meant to move fluidly and we.
Speaker 1:So if you haven't done the boxing yet, definitely give it a go. It's one of the new workouts we got on the challenge and Flivlet Louise, which will be carrying on maybe in total membership, who knows? But today, today, today, more important let's focus on today. Yesterday's gone, Mr. Wahiday Terabadi.
Speaker 1:Here we go, so there was a comment on the check-in which I'm gonna share with you, I shared it in the group yesterday but I'll let you know what it is now, very important. So it says I've had a eureka moment so I think whilst I've struggled this week I know how to move forward finally. I must track everything, learning to track everything fully for the first time in my life and realizing how much I actually eat above my macro target seems negative but has made me realize that this is the whole reason I don't lose weight when I think I'm in a massive deficit. Now I've realized this, I know next week I can get closer to the target set and I know I will lose the weight I want to because I'm currently eating too much. Absolute classic.
Speaker 1:This is an absolute classic. We think we're eating what we're saying but we're not. Okay, the data doesn't lie as well guys so we will know over time. So the thing is need to make your unconscious behaviors conscious. Only then can we be aware.
Speaker 1:Because if we're not aware, if we're not conscious of the unconscious behaviors we're doing, I know it's a massive mental belter, we can't make those changes. So have a look at your like today, really focus on your focus on your actions today. Are you nibbling on those jelly babies? Are you? Are you having a piece of toast, know, Tommy?
Speaker 1:Are you lathering that butter on that toast not putting her in? Are you not weighing that peanut butter because let me tell you if you don't weigh that peanut butter you're gonna mean for a shock. There's loads of these things they add up you're only in a 500 calorie deficit a day Okay, so what that means is your room for error is way lower than you think. If you eat two fifty calories that are unaccounted for, that will double the length it'll take to lose one pound of fat from one week to two weeks. Digestive hundred calories as well.
Speaker 1:Think about it. Digestive here, bit of nibbles over there, a bit of jelly babies over here, bit of Maltesers over there, a bit of coffees over here. Entirely, but adds up. It adds up. So today, for today only, Today, 100% honest to your track and 100% aware of your behaviors, be very present in the moment because otherwise your unconscious is gonna do stuff and you won't know.
Speaker 1:You won't know about it. Okay. Now this is important in another way and I'll explain a hypothetical scenario probably has happened before let's be honest. So person A says they're tracking everything honestly to me and I say okay it's been four weeks now we're not losing weight this is telling me, it's telling me alarm bells are going off, the tracking is not accurate, you're saying you're eating a thousand calories a day, but you can't be and by the way the studies show we underestimate the amount of calories we eat by a thousand a day, so studies are showing us. So you're like, no, no, Scott, I swear to God I'm eating a thousand calories a day, don't do No Mercy Cobra Kai me, please.
Speaker 1:I say, listen, no mercy is coming out soon. Are you? A %. Yeah. I am.
Speaker 1:Okay. Okay. If you are, let's try this then. Let's drop your carbs a bit. Let's see if we can drop this water retention that might be happening.
Speaker 1:Drop the carbs. Nah it's still not happening week six week seven. I go right okay and you're 100% honest yeah yeah okay what's your step count 5,000 okay let's up your step count a bit anything happen. Week eight, nah still nothing no dropping weight. I swear I'm tracking honestly okay.
Speaker 1:Then person here goes I'm off Scott, I've had enough of your no mercy bullshit, I'm off I don't believe in what you're saying. She goes off, decides to do keto. Goes on keto, weight flies off. Five pounds of water weight. Boosh.
Speaker 1:Mainly because she's had to cut out an entire food group, which is carbohydrates. Anyway, five pounds comes flying off. She goes, I knew it was the carbs. I knew what Scott was saying was bullshit. It's definitely the carbs that caused this.
Speaker 1:The carbs have caused me to keep my weight going. It's coming again late. Three weeks go by, can't maintain keto, impossible, no chance. Keto goes out the window, eats carbs, weight goes back on, water weight by the way, no fat. Loses her mind.
Speaker 1:Oh my god. Carbs are the devil. I hate carbs. Starts having a vendetta against carbs. Goes out protesting in parliament.
Speaker 1:She hates carbs. Carbs need to be banned. They're evil. Why are you forcing carbs on me? Conspiracy theory kicks off.
Speaker 1:Carbs caused COVID. All sorts of nuts things are going on. That might be blowing her over a bit. But end of the day, she now thinks carbs are the problem. But the actual problem, and she'd gone for years now, blaming carbs, fighting against carbs.
Speaker 1:Cabs living in her head rent free for the rest of her life maybe. But all that happened is track and error not being honest track and error at the start. You know if there's an analogy for flight takes off one degrees wrong, it'll end up like hundred miles off wherever it is. If it goes from the West Coast to the East Coast Of America, or a ship departs the West Coast East Coast Of America to the to The UK, like, you know, if it's like tiny bit off direction, it'll be like 50 miles away. And this is true like with these small areas they kind of compound into huge lifestyle things in the end like I just explained.
Speaker 1:So we need to be aware of that and I just want you for today one day at a time just today to be honest, 100% track, see what you can find out, be an investigator today. I know you love true crime, know it. This is the crime, those calories are tricking you and you're not tracking them, they're under your nose, you can't see them, it's time to find them. It's time to find them and bring them to light, arrest them whatever you need to do, bring them to light, we can finally see where we need to improve and this is good because we become aware. We all do it right we need to become more aware of our behavior so we can change them.
Speaker 1:Let's make it fun though, it's not doom and gloom, oh my god I hate. Let's make it fun what can we find out today and share them in the group today what funny stuff can you come up with you didn't realize you're doing. Have you been eating your kids baby food in a sleigh? Have you been eating your dog food in a sleigh? I don't know there could be some weird stuff going on let me know.
Speaker 1:But first of all it's time to bring the focus back, the present moment one day at a time only thing that matters is today yeah you've only got twenty four hours a day ever ever you've only ever got twenty four hours a day You're in. It's game time. What are gonna do today with your twenty four hours? What's your one big thing? Maybe it's mindset.
Speaker 1:Q and A with me and Dawn tonight. Maybe it's a stretch class. Maybe it's hitting your macros. But tomorrow, I got a very important topic to talk about. So you better tune back in tomorrow there will be fighting going on and there will be no mercy.
Speaker 1:But I'll leave you in that guys, in all seriousness have a good day. Please do track honestly today let's see what we can find and, let's check-in on Facebook group later on with all our finds. I'm gonna do it as well. So what can I find out about myself today? What am I doing on the slide that I don't think I know I'm doing?
Speaker 1:Happy days. One big thing, let me know. Have a great day. Ta ra for now. And that's it.
Speaker 1:Thank you for listening to the one day at a time podcast with your host, Scott Fleer. Hopefully, you understood something I said. I hope that some wisdom kind of distilled through into your mind, and I want you to now action it today. I don't want you to think about tomorrow. I don't want you to think about yesterday.
Speaker 1:I don't want you to think about leaving a review on this podcast. I don't want you to think about going to another website. What I want you to do is as soon as this podcast ends, you will take action and make the most of today. Ground yourself today. Follow the one day at a time philosophy, and your life will change.
